The manufacturer permits 22 mm, 28 mm or 32 mm external discharge connections for the Sanipro XR UP.

These sizes form part of the official product specification. However, our professional recommendation reflects practical experience from servicing Saniflo systems since 2015.

Use 32 mm for New Installations Where Practical

For most new installations and suitable replacement projects, we recommend correctly installed 32 mm discharge pipework wherever practical.

The larger internal area generally reduces hydraulic resistance and provides more tolerance for normal deposits than 22 mm pipework.

Because the Sanipro XR UP may serve a complete bathroom, it can handle more frequent pumping cycles and higher wastewater volumes than a single-WC macerator.

For this reason, a well-designed 32 mm route can support more dependable long-term performance.

Existing 22 mm or 28 mm installations can continue to operate where they comply with the manufacturer’s requirements and remain in good condition.

However, we do not normally choose 22 mm for a new installation when a practical 32 mm route is available.

Discharge Route and Pipework Design

Pipe diameter alone does not guarantee a reliable installation.

The route should remain as direct as practical and avoid unnecessary bends, restrictions and repeated changes of direction.

Vertical and horizontal sections should follow the current SFA installation instructions. In addition, the pipework should be supported correctly and remain accessible at suitable inspection points.

Inlet Falls and Service Access

The basin, bidet and shower wastes must fall correctly towards the macerator. Shower tray height and available fall should be assessed before installation.

The removable lid must remain accessible, and sufficient working space should be retained to service or remove the complete unit.
